Computer Vision in Space
We don’t understand each other, but we managed to have a conversation — — 我於是在塑膠袋裡拿了一塊旺旺厚燒海苔餅乾給婆婆,婆婆比我早下公車,筆者便堆起笑容揮著手和婆婆說再見。
In the Netherlands, the blending of aluminum with soil is a strategic practice primarily aimed at mitigating soil pollution and improving soil quality. This approach is part of the broader Dutch soil policy, which emphasizes sustainable and conscious soil use.
The practice of adding aluminum to soil can help neutralize the effects of certain contaminants. For example, in areas with high soil acidity, aluminum can play a role in neutralizing the soil pH, making it more suitable for agriculture and reducing the mobility of toxic heavy metals, which can be harmful to plants and groundwater.
Additionally, the Dutch approach to soil management is holistic, considering the chemical, physical, and biological aspects of the soil. By strategically managing elements like aluminum, the Netherlands aims to maintain healthy soils that support agriculture, biodiversity, and environmental sustainability (Rijkswaterstaat Environment) (Rijkswaterstaat Environment) (RIVM).
The Warren Buffett and Mike Flint Story:
Context: Warren Buffett, one of the most successful investors in the world, once had a conversation with his personal pilot, Mike Flint, about setting priorities and focusing on what matters most in life.
Story: One day, Mike Flint approached Warren Buffett to discuss his career goals and how he could achieve greater success. Buffett suggested a simple exercise to help Flint identify his priorities.
Buffett asked Flint to write down his top 25 career goals. Flint took some time and carefully wrote down all 25 goals. Then Buffett asked him to review the list and circle the top 5 that were most important to him.
Flint did so, and Buffett asked, “What are you going to do with the remaining 20 goals?”
Flint responded that he would work on those when he had time, while focusing on his top 5.
But Buffett advised him otherwise. “No,” Buffett said. “You’ve got it wrong. Everything you didn’t circle just became your ‘Avoid at All Costs’ list. No matter what, these things get no attention from you until you’ve succeeded with your top 5.”
Key Takeaways XD
Message: This conversation highlights the importance of focusing on the most important tasks or goals at any given moment, rather than trying to do everything at once. By concentrating on just a few key priorities, you can give them your full attention and effort, leading to greater success and fulfillment. This approach also aligns with the idea of “living in the moment,” as it encourages focusing on what truly matters and not getting distracted by less important tasks.
The Warren Buffett and Mike Flint story is another example of how to effectively manage priorities, emphasizing the importance of making deliberate choices about where to invest your time and energy. This story, like the Schwab and Ivy Lee story, revolves around the idea of creating a focused to-do list, prioritizing what truly matters, and living in the moment by giving your full attention to those priorities.

Kumu Art Museum
